“Re-booting”

Dominance is a waste of energy. It’s like that one process in your computer that runs in the background hogging up all the free memory space you have. It causes a big lag, leading to a crash and system failure which results to inefficiency. No matter how many times you click on the screen with your mouse or push hard on the CTRL+ALT+DEL keys of your keyboard, it’s still frozen. When this happens, you know it’s time to reboot. Same goes in real life, no matter what you say, no matter what your point is, good or bad, it means nothing when both sides are trying to be dominant… It consumes one’s thinking and eventually shuts down on everything. When this happens, you know it’s time to take a deep breath… Clear your brain and re-think before executing…

Whether or not I like the weather

Today, my partner took me with her to softball practice. It was 68 degrees and lovely. People out here in Minnesota seem to appreciate days like this. I can’t remember a day where they didn’t talk about how the weather is going to be. I just moved here about a month ago from sunny California, the state that almost everyone out here seem to worship because of how perfect the weather is. I think every person I spoke with during the time I was interviewing for a job had asked what in the world was I thinking when I decided to leave such an awesome state for a crappy-weathered state like Minnesota. I’m pretty sure that in their heads, they were thinking that I was a nutcase. There were some though who thought that I came at the right time but still, it was all about how the weather was. It was how this place is immaculate during the spring time. All these conversations that I’ve encountered were something that I’ve responded to with “Oh, that’s cool…”, as enthused as I can… But there are some days, in my head, when I say, “Eh… yeah, heard that about a million times now…” They are really nice and I never want to be rude, so I just… Smile… I am an indoor kind of person so the weather is really not in my checklist when deciding to live in a certain place… Well, maybe I can put exceptions for places like Texas or Arizona. I heard that it’s burning hot out there all the time and I can’t stand the heat. I like the cold and the snow. If I need heat, there’s always a heater or a fireplace at home.

Right now, as the heat of the sun burns my scalp and the slight cold wind touches my skin, I look around me and see these ladies playing softball who by the way are pretty darn good, I then realize and ask myself… “What in the world am I doing outdoors?” Hurry Brooke! I need to go home because I can’t catch wireless internet connection out here in the fields.
